Last Hurrah

As I look over the meadow from my patio, hot coffee in hand this morning, the dew still sparkles on the grass, and the sunrise is shifting the sky from a pink-apricot to a soft blue, while the clouds grow fluffy and thick and grey around the edges.  In the distance, a flock of unidentified birds are chirping away, welcoming this new fall day.  I note that the trees are changing into their fall attire, letting go of their verdant green dress to the jewel tones of reds, golds, and oranges.  The air is cool and crisp.  And my eyes catch the last of the two new buds on my hibiscus, for that plant has just enough oomph! to give one more last hurrah for the season.
